Day 9 – Resting in Baiona

Shall I stay or should I go? That is the question which I was asking myself after doing more tha. 30 kilometres on day 8 and ending it with some pain in my leg. I was planning on doing a rest day a bit further on but now might be a good time as well.

It’s day 9. 6.30 in the morning and I am awake. Yesterday I walked my biggest distance so far and my left leg was hurting towards the end. I’ve already been planning on doing a rest day to not push myself too far. When I stretch my leg I feel that it’s still hurting. I still feel tired and am not looking forward to walk today. The hostel feels comfortable so right then and there I take the decision; will stay here for another night and I won’t be walking a stage today.

This also means no walking adventures to write about. It was nice to just wander around the seaside holiday town which Baiona is. It was nice to feel the sun warming up my back which is normally covered by my backpack. And I could wander around relaxed without the need to get somewhere. But the need to do something kicked in a anyway and I almost took the bus to nearby Vigo, the biggest city in Galicia, which is where I am walking now. When the bus was about to arrive I just could not see myself spending 2 hours on it and walk around in busy Vigo. The relaxed atmosphere of Baiona felt just fine.

So I decided to stick around Baiona and continued my relaxed day. Walking around a bit, having lunch, doing some groceries, drinking coffee, having a beer while watching the Netherlands equalize against Ecuador in the World Cup. And I even cooked myself a nice meal in the hostel kitchen which was also a satisfying thing to be doing. Here are just some images to give a short impression of Baiona.

I took a walk around the Baiona fortress

We already had some contact but nice to see the beautiful photos of Beiona. And the sun was shining which was a pleasant intermezzo with the rain you had earlier. Here it’s raining a bit and very cloudy, 5 degrees. I am busy with washing things, because next sunday someone is coming back and I think there will be more durty clothes ? enjoy the rest and preparing the trip to Vigo! Muchos besos ?
