Physical uncomfort marked the end of day 4 and such is also the case the next morning. Is the physical undertaking starting to take it’s toll or is this just one of those other things that comes and goes. Let’s see how the journey continues.

First day of walking. Weather forecast looks good. I know what needs to be done now. 25 kilometres are between me and my first real pilgrim hostel that I’ve set my eyes on and which will close it’s doors at 18.00hrs. Time to take my first steps towards Santiago.

It’s raining in Porto. I haven’t even started walking yet but my feet are wet already in spite of the waterproof Goretex lined walking shoes I bought a couple of weeks ago. Last day of preparations and getting in the mood before the real walking starts tomorrow.

This has been several years in the making. And still now somewhat unexpectedly I find myself sitting at Eindhoven Airport waiting to board a flight to Porto. From there I will start walking to Santiago de Compostela, an adventure of which I have been thinking a long time already and which will now become reality.
